LONDON, UK – As Toronto, Canada’s largest city, embarks on its ambitious programme of megaprojects – including the largest investment in new subways in Canada’s history – Direx Solutions is well positioned to play its part in transforming the capital’s public transport infrastructure.
Following on from providing strategic support to government agency Metrolinx for the GO Expansion Programme, Direx Solutions has now signed a four-year, technical advisory framework agreement with Infrastructure Ontario (IO), a Crown agency of Ontario, that supports the Ontario government’s initiatives to modernise and maximise the value of public infrastructure and real estate.
IO’s business includes acting as procurement and commercial lead for all major public infrastructure projects in the province. Working with multiple stakeholders in Toronto, IO is helping to deliver the infrastructure for the new subway that will alleviate congestion, improve mobility and support growth within the City of Toronto.
Direx Solutions’ involvement began in March 2019 when the original tender for Technical Advisory Services for the Subways Project was formalised by an international consulting engineering firm. Direx Solutions was its nominated ‘back-to-back’ professional services subcontractor, together with specialist advisory practice, Crossrail International. IO has now novated the technical advisory framework to Direx Solutions and partner, Crossrail International, for a period of four years.
A key component of the services involves reviewing, evaluating and challenging client information and approaches to foster greater efficiency, innovation and improvements to project delivery.
