Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB), one of the world’s biggest public transport companies, has been serving Hong Kong since 1933. It is the largest bus operating company in Hong Kong with a fleet of over 4,000 buses serving more than 640 bus routes.

KMB engaged Direx Solutions to perform a review of the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations and maintenance (O&M) processes.

The scope included a review of:

• fleet and depots, including future fleet procurement strategy
• current service planning and delivery
• fleet maintenance and life cycle maintenance
• depot Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) management
• inventory management
• staff capability, competence and training.

Deliverables included a full review of the current ‘as-is’ situation and a strategic roadmap for recommended short-, medium- and long-term performance enhancements.
