TransJakarta Zero Emission Bus Transition Strategy

JAKARTA, INDONESIA

Expert technical advisory support to develop the Final Business Case for e-bus fleet implementation

Operating around 5,000 buses over 250km of routes, TransJakarta is the world’s longest bus rapid transit (BRT) system, providing a fast public transport system to help reduce rush hour traffic in the capital city of Indonesia. TransJakarta has mandated that all buses should transition to zero emissions by 2030, expanding its electric bus (e-bus) fleet to over 10,000 units.

The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP), a non-governmental, non-profit organisation focused on encouraging safe, modern, and efficient public transportation systems in cities worldwide, was commissioned to develop a robust regulatory framework and a Final Business Case (FBC) to accelerate the acquisition of e-bus fleets.

Direx Solutions provided expert technical advisory support to ITDP Indonesia, providing subject matter input and reviews of previous preliminary studies to develop the FBC for e-bus fleet implementation. Our scope included assessment of fleet size, types and routes, and extensive market engagement with the e-mobility ecosystem suppliers to develop the transition plan with appropriate products.
