SYDNEY, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA
Sydney Metro West is a major new direct underground metro railway line that will connect Greater Parramatta with the Sydney Central Business District (CBD), vastly improving travel capacity, speed, and reliability across one of Australia’s busiest transport corridors. It is part of the broader Sydney Metro network, the nation’s largest public transport infrastructure programme.
Direx Solutions played a key role as an integrated member of MTR Corporation’s successful bid team for the Sydney Metro Trains, Systems, Maintenance and Operations (TSMO) contract, providing specialist operations and maintenance support during the tender phase. MTR is the lead partner in the Metro Trains West (MTW) Consortium, a joint venture with a subsidiary of CRRC Corporation Limited, China.
The new 24km line will feature nine new stations and is targeted to open in 2032. The MTW Consortium will deliver core railway systems, including next-generation driverless metro trains, signalling and communication systems, systems integration, testing, commissioning, and operations and maintenance of the Sydney Metro West network for 15 years after the line opens.
