MUMBAI, MAHARASHTRA STATE, INDIA
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is overseeing the delivery of an extensive metro network in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra State, India, comprising up to 14 metro lines and over 400km of route network. MMRDA is also responsible for a stand-alone monorail system which runs for a length of approximately 20km.
Direx Solutions worked alongside strategic rail advisers, Crossrail International, to provide specialist technical advice to MMRDA on a Systemwide Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Strategy for Mumbai Metro and monorail. This included providing recommendations on the future governance of the completed metro network; future project implementation and delivery, including the introduction of a PMO function into the client delivery body, embedding O&M support into the project development and creating an Operational Readiness Team; and incorporation of best practice in O&M once the lines are open.
The initial phase of advisory support was undertaken as part of the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Green Cities, Infrastructure and Energy Programme (GCIP).
